OLD PETE

A Brief Biography
Slim was born in 1934.  When he was one year old his folks moved the family to a ranch in the badlands
country to the Pine Ridge Indian reservation in southwest South Dakota. There his family
lived in a log house on Bear -In-The-Lodge Creek. He grew up on the back of a
horse looking, at the hind end of a cow. His mother is extremely talented,  plays
many stringed instruments as well as an artist, in several mediums. She later taught
art in high school. She sang old cowboy songs and read Slim her poetry beginning in his younger years.
That developed Slim's desire for poetry. Slim and his mother in later years
published a computation of their poetry into a book entitled "AWAY OUT WEST, POEMS FROM THE WOLF DENA", which is currently out of print. Due to several requests the book may go back to print later this year.
Most of Slim's poetry and western humor stories are based on real life events that
occurred during his first forty years of living. Slim also has other poetry published in various
anthologies and a short western humor story published in a cowboy magazine.
Some of Slim's  material is published under A Form The Wolf Den@, a copyrighted
header. For the past thirty years Slim has owned and operated a successful saddle shop, "Slim's
Custom Leather, where his hand tooled leather and well known knowledge of saddle repair is highly sought after. Slim is an expert in the field of restoration for rebuilding collectable, old, and new saddles, as well as a custom builder.  His hand tooled leather goods and saddle works are shipped all over the US.
